Skeet’s Texas Grill

Really good chicken fried steak and great service. Their ice tea was really good too. The dining room is very simple and the ice machine is pretty loud but it was a very pleasant experience nonetheless. About as down home Texas country as it gets. Highly recommend.

Juicy, beefy, with just the right sear on the edges like it had been cooked by a pitmaster who also moonlights as a poet. The onions were caramelized to perfection—none of that half-cooked, disappointing stringiness—just pure, golden goodness. And the gravy? Oh, the gravy. I wanted to bottle it and wear it like cologne.Halfway through, I caught myself whispering, “Where have you been all my life?” to the plate. A nearby customer nodded in understanding—he, too, had seen the light.The sides? Air conditioner out but fans did pretty good, food was great & the service was awesome!!! Wish I would've gotten the name of my server but her sister works there also & both of them were Alot of fun & we felt very welcomed

I have been in 6 different States over the last year and sure missed Texas food. Skeets has 4 locations in and around Abilene. The location in Merkel was very clean, service was great as was the food. It was also a bargain. A large chicken fried steak, loaded baked potato, roll and small salad, 10.
